PROGRESSING BALLET TECHNIQUE
PBT is a series of carefully devised exercises using large and small exercise balls and therabands that works on specific muscle groups, technique and artistry needed for ballet. It is a helpful addition to enhance students’ technique, focusing on training the muscle memory required for ballet. It requires regular attendance due to following a programme of classes which increase in difficulty as they are worked through.
CONTEMPORARY
Contemporary Dance stems from the core, or torso, of the body and uses elements of contract, release, spiral, floor work, fall and recovery, and improvisation. This evolving style has fast become one of the most dominant genres for dancers throughout the world and is extremely beneficial for anyone preparing for a career in dance. We will begin with the ISTD Intermediate Foundation syllabus.
*NEW FOR JANUARY 2024* – We now offer a junior contemporary class, following NATD’s graded contemporary syllabus.
TAP
We offer mixed ability tap classes suitable for all abilities and ages. A fun class and a great way to exercise both mind and body.
CREATIVE DANCE AND DRAMA
This class provides students with the opportunity to explore ideas and work collaboratively to create pieces of drama and physical theatre. Students are encouraged to investigate their ideas through whole group improvisation: learning how to negotiate, adapt and modify their ideas with others – an important skill for working creatively. They are also taught how to artistically communicate their ideas through performance skills.
